Bitcontrol MPEG Video Decoder is a video and audio decoder for most media players. It runs as a DirectShow filter, supporting DirectX Video Acceleration 1.0 and 2.0. It allows you to play HDTV on Celeron processors slower than 1 Ghz.
Like most DirectShow filters, bittcontrol MPEG Video Decoder doesn´t have an entry in the Program´s Menu. But you can access its Options entry to fine tune the way you want the decoder to run. You can choose the deinterlace method, the output media types or connections, and frame skipping, if any. You can also set the MPEG-2 (with or without Color Correction) or MPEG-4 decoders, brightness, contrast and saturation. This menu will also show you the installed plugins (with its options) and statistics concerning the program. The bitcontrol MPEG-2 Audio Decoder supports the LPCM and MPEG-1 Layer 1/2 audio formats. You will need to use third party audio filters if the target video files use the AC-3 audio code. In order to comply with the requirements of the MPEG LA consortium, the author of this program had to pay a fee to them, so this product is not free.
